Welcome to Zeta Beta Alpha

Zeta Beta Alpha, often just called ZBA, is one of the nation's leading fraternities, with a chapter in every major university. They have a tradition of selecting someone outside the frat to join it as a chapter's "Primus", who is essentially supposed to act as a role model for the other members due to the Primus' excellence in grades, accomplishments, and overall potential. Before the Primus graduates from the university, they will choose one of their fellow frat members as their "Electus", who is supposed to be selected by the Primus for similar reasons that the Primus was selected by ZBA leadership, but in reality it's more often about just winning the Primus' favor. Employers don't know that though, all they know is that Zeta Beta Alpha is an already prestigious fraternity, and that the Electus is supposed to be especially impressive. And that means just about everyone wants to be it.

Historically, Primuses were exclusively women, because it was an unofficial tradition that the Primus was romantically involved with their Electus, and of course, every member of ZBA except the Primus themselves is a man. The gender requirement for Primuses was removed in 2011, much to the chagrin of many of the frat's straight members, who now may have to platonically persuade a guy instead of romancing a "hot chick". But you'd be surprised how many of those "straight" members found their "platonic" courting becoming less platonic after a few beers. In any case, nowadays the relationship between the Primus and their Electus is a bit more flexible, but it's still more common than not for the two to be... intimately acquainted.
