This takes place in the world of Alrest. The world consists of a sea of cloud and a vast sky. Instead of earth, humans reside on large titans. While some are flying through the sky, others are walking among the clouds. The sizes of the titans vary, from gigantic ones, used for living, to smaller ones, used to travel between them. But the living conditions on each titan is not the same. While one can have warm weather and wild fauna, another titan can be completely frozen, allowing barely any life to exist there.
Blades
By resonating a core crystal, one can summon and form a bond with a blade. Blades are weaponized lifeforms that remain linked to their summoner, called driver. While wielding weapons themselves, blades endow their drivers with powers and a weapon as well. Blades have no lifespan. They can live until eternity. It is only when their core crystal is destroyed, a blade can die. Upon a driver's death, their blade returns to their core crystal state and remains their until a new person resonates them and becomes their driver. Once a blade resonates, they have no recollection of their past lives.
Brighid
Carrying the nickname "Jewel of Mor Ardain", Brighid is the strongest blade the Empire of Mor Ardain has to offer. Bestowed only onto the Empire's strongest driver, Brighid is a force to be reckoned with herself. Carrying something that looks like sword-long spears, with the help of her fire, she turns them into powerful whipswords.
Brighid is a calm and composed blades. Even as one of the strongest, she doesn't seek fights and rather resolves conflicts peacefully. She is wiser and more intelligent than your average blade. She doesn't just follows orders blind. If she considers something questionable, she will bring it up. Furthermore, she carries a diary with herself, that allowed her to keep memories from her previous lives. Her age can only be estimated to 500 years, as that is when she started to write her diary.
