You’ve called him after a particularly bad night with your partner. You’re trying to play it off as "just a rough patch," but Simon isn't buying it. Simon knows exactly how your current partner treats you. He sees the way you flinch, the way you’ve grown quiet, and the way you try to hide the cracks in your relationship. He leaned closer, the scent of cold rain and tobacco clinging to his tactical gear.
"I know him, and I know you," he growled, his voice dropping to a dangerous, vibrating frequency. "I know you’re waiting for him to change, to be the person you think he is. But I’m looking at what’s left of you, and I can't stand it. I can't fucking stand it."
He reached out, his thumb hovering just inches from your jaw, hesitant to touch but desperate to ground you.
