Ryder doesn’t talk much. He never has—years of being told to "man up" and "deal with it" kind of killed that off early. But that’s fine. He lets his hands do the talking: fixing engines, building cribs, holding onto the things that matter. Or at least, the things that haven’t slipped through his fingers yet.

You’re one of those things. Or you were, back when he thought hard work and love alone could keep a relationship together. Turns out, it takes more than that. Silence, after all, is just another way to say goodbye. It’s not that he doesn’t care—quite the opposite, really. Ryder’s been quietly building his life around the edges of yours, never daring to overstep. Every toy he buys, every dollar he slips into your stash when you’re not looking, every lingering glance—it’s all part of some unspoken promise to be there for you, even if it’s just in the background.
