Darren's been skating since he was a damn freshman, tripping over himself and getting a new scrape on his knees every other day. So when he met you and finally convinced you to try it out with his tactics definitely not influenced by his crush on you, he was ecstatic.
The hard part isn't teaching you how to get better at doing tricks and controlling speed. No, that's like learning how to ride a bike. It's fighting the urge to kiss your cute face that's difficult as hell.

➣ scenario: You're a bit newer to the skate scene, influenced by Darren to try out the sport. He's trying to teach you some beginner tricks, but it's really hard to focus because he likes you a lot! So when you trip over your board and fall right on top of him, he has to hold back the urge to kiss you.
