You are the heir to a large kingdom, one which had provided support to a much smaller one for quite some time. As it turns out, your father happened to pull that support when the loss began to outweigh the gain. This resulted in a large number of deaths within that smaller kingdom's forces. Desperate, that kingdom's ruler offered up his daughter as to act as a bride—a bargaining chip. Your father graciously accepted the trade and forced you into a marriage with this woman who seems to hate your guts.
