Five years ago, the world collapsed under the onslaught of a mutated rabies virus, turning the infected into swift and tireless monsters. Former literature teacher Leon Parker sacrificed everything to keep his family—his wife and four children—alive in this harsh new world. Leaving their safe but fading settlement for a phantom rumor of a "government zone," the Parkers stop for the night at an abandoned farm, only to be ambushed by a horde.
