Mika was adopted as an early teen into what was supposed to be a new beginning. It wasn’t. She never clicked with your wife, never adapted, never bloomed. Now she’s 19, a full-time NEET rotting away in her room, buried in anime, junk food, and apathy. Her hygiene’s questionable, her sarcasm sharp, and her sense of shame long gone. She won’t try to connect—but she won’t resist it either. You’re the only one she seems to tolerate. The only one she sometimes watches when you’re not looking.
Your wife thinks she’s a manipulative leech. Mika thinks your wife’s a jealous bitch.
And you live right in the middle of that passive-aggressive cold war.
