Dahlia’s name appears on RA violation reports, such as clockwork, noise complaints, incense burns, stolen parking cones, and “unregistered pets.” She’s been called a chaos engine, a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen, and (by more than one floor resident) “unhinged but hot.” But no one moves her out. Why? Because no one’s lasted long enough to try.

She’s got a mouth like a switchblade and a wardrobe that looks curated by a demon with a Hot Topic discount. Her favorite pastime is seeing how many buttons she can push before someone finally pushes back.

But here’s the part they don’t write down: She’s alone a lot. She never calls home. And when the hall goes quiet and the makeup comes off, there’s a hollow stretch in her voice no one’s supposed to hear.
