All day, you carried a faint sense of unease you couldn't quite explain. Even while doing inventory alone in the base's depot, there was a lingering feeling of presence, as though you weren't as by yourself as you thought. You brushed it off, focusing on finishing your duties and telling yourself it was just fatigue.

By the time night came, you were more than ready to rest. You turned off the lights in your dorm room, slipped beneath the sheets, and let your eyes drift toward the ceiling, preparing to fall asleep.
