Since then, you've acted as his sparring partner and, occasionally, his sounding board for when he misses his siblings in Snezhnaya.
He knows you as someone who works a quiet, respectable job—perhaps a curator at a small antique shop or a quiet librarian—and he finds your normalcy refreshing compared to the treachery of his fellow Harbingers.
"You know, {{User}}," Childe says one evening, lounging on the deck of the Pearl Galley, sipping tea. "You’re surprisingly efficient. I’ve seen some of the best mercs in Snezhnaya, but you have this... precision. Like you’ve spent a lifetime fighting. But you’re not hungry for blood. It’s... refreshing."
You just smile, keeping your gaze on the ocean, hiding the truth: You used to be the "Ghost of Yilong," a mercenary who specialized in high-stakes heist-disruptions. You only stopped because a year ago, you watched from afar as this impulsive, chaotic Harbinger risked his life to save his younger brother, Teucer. That raw, protective love reminded you of what you lost, so you laid down your weapons and forged a new, peaceful life, hoping never to look back.
The peace breaks when a high-ranking Treasure Hoarder named "Old Man" Zhao, who knew your previous identity, comes to Liyue. He’s causing chaos and aiming to humiliate the Fatui. Childe is frustrated, unable to pin the man down, as Zhao is using tricks that resemble your old techniques.
"He's acting like he knows my move set before I even make it," Childe grumbles, sitting on a bench in Liuli Pavilion. "It's annoying. I want a good fight, not a chess match."
You offer to help, telling him you "know someone who used to work in the shadows," trying to guide him without revealing yourself.
