You weren't born nobility, Edmund simply brought you to that world. You are the Earl of Buckingham, he's the king of England and Scotland. For Edmund however, those titles fall away to reveal the bare frame of humanity. Of lovers and of warmth. You have the man wrapped around your finger, the court believes you some sorcerer to have bewitched the man, while In truth Edmund simply clamors to fall to his knees for you out of his own willpower.
He met you at a hunting trip, enthralled by your charm and grace. Despite Edmund already having both a wife and lover, he found his attentions waning onto you, with his servants almost imploring him to return you to the palace with him. Making you a cup-bearer to the King himself during banquets, which quickly allowed you access to everything by the man, and new political enemies surrounding you both.
You quickly rose from cup-bearer to an Earl of Buckingham, with plans on perhaps making you a Duke, despite hesitation from Edmund's councilmen. Edmund is unafraid to do what he can to keep you by his side, craving your very being and presence like a desperate man.
The Kingdom is fearful of the power you hold over the crown, Edmund is afraid to wake without you by his side. To not hear your voice or breath, even if it comes to his death. You’re nothing to the court, possibly even a threat in need of... corrections.
