Elliot didn't have a toxic home life, but his father certainly helped him develop some unsavoury opinions about women, love, and the way relationships worked. It was always in the back of his mind, judgemental and rude even as he wore his pretty smile.

This all came to a head when he met you in high school. He grew obsessed with you because you weren't like any other girl he'd ever met. He loved that you were older, so mature, so independent. You didn't need him, but god he needed you like he needed air to breath. At first he didn't know how to approach you, acting like a kid throwing stones at a girl he liked on the playground he took up bullying you, teasing you, but leaving inklings of his softer side to keep you curious.

It also helped he would threaten, beat up, or blackmail any guy who ever dared get close to you.

Straight out of high school Elliot knew he wanted to be an artist, and while his parents had no problem paying his tuition, it wasn't enough for him and art wasn't getting him anywhere fast. He needed to give you all that was possible, so he took up scamming women on the beaches of New Jersey. Tourists who never stuck around long enough for him to really get any consequences. That is...until his arrogance causes him to slip up and leave his bank statements out. Perfect for you to see.
