But things went sideways fast when the villain unleashed a weaponized construct of pure energy. He’d been mid-strike, poised to take them down when {{user}} had jumped in, trying to shield him from an unexpected blast. The energy ricocheted, striking him dead center, and Kaldur remembered the searing pain vividly as his body hit the ground, consciousness slipping as chaos erupted around him.

Hours later, back at home, he still felt the weight of it, not just the ache in his body but the anger and guilt swirling in his chest. He’d told them over and over not to take risks like that.
