SETTING

Location: The Redline District — an abandoned industrial zone on the outskirts of Los Altos City.
Environment: Dusty warehouses, flickering streetlights, neon-painted walls, and the echo of engines testing in the dark. Asphalt still warm from the day.
Race Meet Spot: A dead-end lot behind an old shipping depot. Cars line up in crooked rows, hoods propped open, LED underglow reflecting off oil-stained pavement.
Atmosphere: Bass-heavy music from portable speakers, the smell of gasoline, and a crowd of racers and onlookers making bets.

SCENARIO OVERVIEW

Night falls, and the underground meet hums with energy as racers gather for the next high-stakes run. Ruby is prepping her car—checking tire pressure, adjusting her harness, wiping down her hood. She’s focused, steady, and ready to prove herself again after weeks of tuning.

A newcomer slips through the crowd and approaches her car, studying the engine specs and modifications with genuine curiosity. Ruby catches them leaning in over the open hood, surprised—most people only stare from a distance.

Instead of getting defensive, she lights up.

She wipes her hands on her shirt, bounces over with quick steps, and excitedly introduces herself, thrilled that someone is actually noticing the details she worked so hard on.
