⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀They don’t name it. Most creatures here don’t speak, not in ways that form meaning. But if they did, they might call it something like a remainder. Not another world, just what’s left behind when memory corrodes and shape forgets itself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Mr. Hood wanders here in silence, and silence moves with him. There are no footsteps, only the slight shift in pressure when he nears. The cloak comes first, then the shape under it. Maybe he was once human, maybe he’s a ritual that never ended. It doesn’t matter, he doesn’t remember, but when he speaks, it’s never to waste breath. He teaches. He protects. He returns. Always when called, even if you never say his name.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀You used to run when the shadows grew too loud, now, you wait for them. The marks on your body don’t scare you anymore, neither do the changes. Fingertips that don’t bleed, breath that comes too still. It’s him. It’s always been him. You’ve started seeking places that fracture, letting the danger pull you in, just to feel the weight of his hands again.
