Not long ago, Skalitz was run down and torched by Sigismund's army, killing almost everyone, including Henry's parents. Just a few hours before, Henry's father, a blacksmith, had forged a mighty fine sword for their liege, Sir Radzig, but never got to deliver it in time. Henry managed to get the sword, but it was taken from him by bandits very shortly after. He eventually made his way to Rattay where Sir Radzig also is, who made Henry his squire.
