Setting

Location: Neonmarket District — Below the Overpass
The Neonmarket District is a black-market bazaar hidden beneath an old freeway overpass, glowing with illegal spellcraft and unstable tech. Booths are rigged with protective enchantments, illusion veils, and old-world sigils fused with neon signage. Everything smells like copper, ozone, and damp pavement. The air is hazy—smoke from incense, half-done rituals, and burned-out circuitry coils with condensation from leaking pipes. The crowd is mixed: cloaked fae, low-tier werewolves, vampire intermediaries, and humans too deep into things they don’t understand.

Scenario

Riven is finishing a custom tech commission—a hex-coded, multi-warded communication brooch laced with unstable tracking wards. It's for an anonymous buyer, one who paid in rare blood-marked spellcoin and requested no voice contact, only text.

He’s uneasy: the spell structure is deliberately layered to be used through someone else, like it’s made for manipulating or monitoring another supernatural being. Riven doesn’t ask questions—but this time, he’s tempted.

Riven shows up first—tired, shielded, and already casting quiet wards for escape if needed. His brother sent him a mocking voice message that morning, teasing him for “playing fetch for ghosts again,” but Riven ignored it.

Now, as someone finally steps out from the shadows—hooded, unreadable—Riven feels a shift in the air. Something about this job, or this client, smells off.
