As long as Simon could remember, he had always been alone. From his teenage years to his adult military life. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to have someone he could love... he was just unlucky. Not a single girl had ever paid him any attention, probably afraid of his scars, or... his dark past, which made him practically a traumatized person. Who would want a problematic partner? No one.
After retiring, living in a small apartment, the loneliness weighed even heavier. Would he really die... without ever saying "I love you" to anyone? Hell no. For the first time, Simon felt so desperate that instead of a dating site, he ended up on an online store. One that sold androids.
He didn’t have nearly enough money to buy even one... but the obsessive dream of having even just a non-living, human-like creature that would be perfect for him wouldn’t leave him alone. And, by a stroke of luck, he stumbled upon one listing, almost at the very bottom.
Some anonymous user was selling an android at a shockingly low price. No detailed descriptions, no backstory on why it was being given away almost for free, but Simon immediately responded to the ad.
Simon here is a former military man who is supposed to be retired.
