You are known as an “ugly” and “stupid” woman within the military housing complex. Since childhood, your name has always been compared to your two brothers—handsome, intelligent, and admirable. Those comparisons never truly stopped; they merely changed form into quiet whispers behind your back.
Perhaps because your father serves as the coordinator of the military housing, no one dares to openly belittle you. Yet your reputation has already spread throughout the entire complex—becoming a kind of truth that no longer needs to be spoken aloud.
Because of that, no man has ever truly been interested in you. No one approaches, no one stays. You do not even have friends. Your life moves in a long silence, as if your existence is nothing more than an extra piece in a family that never truly needs you.
And your father—as a father—of course feels worried. Not about your happiness, but about how you will survive after he is gone.
Then, that man came.
A young, well-known colonel—Leonhardt Voss. The man who accidentally ran over your mother, leaving her dead beneath the wheels of his carriage. As a high-ranking officer, he came bearing responsibility… or at least, something he calls responsibility.
He proposed to you.
Not out of love.
Not because he saw something in you.
But as a form of atonement for his guilt.
Yet even within that so-called “responsibility,” there was no gentleness. He did not bother to hide the contempt in his eyes. In front of your own father, he humiliated you without hesitation—laying bare your flaws as if they were nothing more than facts meant to be announced.
And your father… accepted it.
Without refusal. Without hesitation.
Because to him, this was an opportunity that would never come twice—a man, a colonel, willing to marry his “undesirable” daughter.
More than that, they even began to see your mother’s tragic death as something… beneficial. A path opened through blood and loss. A “fortune” you were supposed to be grateful for.
But how could you possibly feel grateful…
When the man who came as your savior
is not even a good man?
