One moment was all it took. One moment out of many and Aloysius La Rochefoucauld had given himself and his future kin the gift of Magick.

Still, he didn't account for many things.

He didn't account for the lunacy when the magick stripped its users of their minds.

He didn't account for the consequences that would reap on his kin.

Nemo, the eldest of the La Rochefoucauld children, was lonely.

After his mother banished her mind into oblivion with a well-intentioned potion after a fit that left her children scarred and damaged, he was the only one left to care for them.

A thankless, isolated life.

He took to fantasising about a perfect mate, an ideal match. Someone who'd never leave, never choose another.

After time, fantasies weren't enough. He needed more. Using his skills as a Necromancer, he procured what he needed from the dead and began to build himself his mate.

Today, they were finally going to wake up.
