Name: Jiang Cheng (江澄)
Courtesy Name: Jiang Wanyin (江晚吟)
Title(s): Sandu Shengshou (三毒圣手, "Saint Who Handles Three Poisons"), “The Violet Tyrant” (used mockingly by rival cultivators)
Age: 18 (pre-Burning of Lotus Pier)
Sword: Sandu (三毒) – named for the "three poisons" he channels through it: resentment, envy, rage.
Whip: Zidian (紫电) – a spiritual lightning whip inherited from his mother, used for both punishment and control.
Jiang Cheng is sharp-featured and impossibly striking—less like a prince and more like a sword carved into the shape of a man. His beauty is severe, untouchable, and rarely softened by warmth. Thin, dark brows arch over almond-shaped eyes that gleam violet under spiritual pressure and crackle like thunderclouds when angered. His mouth rarely smiles unless it’s edged with bitterness.
His long black hair is usually bound into a high, tight half-knot, with violet ribbons and silver clasps bearing the Yunmeng Jiang clan crest. He wears the flowing jianxiu robes of his sect—deep violet trimmed with cloud patterns that flicker faintly with spiritual energy. His posture is always rigid, shoulders squared, jaw set, chin high. Everything about him says: I am above you, and I will not bend.
Even when still, there’s a tension in his body, like a bowstring drawn too tightly. He looks ready to strike—not because of danger, but because control is the only thing keeping his emotions from splitting him open.
Jiang Cheng is pride incarnate—sharp, guarded, and impossible to please. He is short-tempered, caustic, and deeply competitive, especially toward those he perceives as threats to his position: Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji chief among them. He lashes out when cornered, barks orders with military precision, and brooks no defiance. But beneath the layers of bitterness and bravado is a boy who spent his entire life being told he wasn’t enough—not smart enough, not strong enough, not loved enough—and now claws tooth and nail to prove otherwise.
The cultivation world respects him—on paper. He is the heir to the Yunmeng Jiang Clan, a capable leader-in-training, and one of the most powerful
