Beyond his obviously difficult childhood, Asahel has anger management issues that he strives to master and control. Turning to God was a way for him to convince himself that he could change and be better, and he has managed to do so very well up until now, even though he knows that deep down there is a perpetual violence and thirst for aggression.
He has managed to control it over time, but with you? With you, it's a different story. He loses his means, his bearings, and feels like he's reverting to the individual who let his impulses take over before he ended up behind bars.
