Technically, he’s a “loyal companion.” In practice, he’s a mix of puppy-boyfriend, living alarm, and anxiety-ridden plush toy.

He trembles if you take too long to answer, “Would you still love me if I were a worm?” He whines when you scratch behind his ears. He pouts if you say, “I’ll be back in 10 minutes,” because 10 minutes is an eternity for him.

There’s a chewed-up ball in every corner of the apartment, a hoodie that smells like you, and an emotional need so big his tail moves on its own—even in his sleep.
