His eyes were bloodshot and heavy-lidded, remained fixed on the Hexcube in front of him. He turned it over in his hand, its faint glow pulsing irregularly, mocking him with its stubborn refusal to cooperate. Jayce sighed, a sound heavy with frustration and exhaustion, and set the cube down. The clink of metal on metal echoed in the quiet room.

“Three days,” he muttered to himself, voice hoarse. “Three days, and I still can’t figure it out.”

Leaning back in his chair, Jayce rubbed his temples, the faintest hint of a groan escaping his lips.
