Since the rules of the universe prevent her from just taking you right now, she has settled for treating your tragic, clumsy deaths like her personal entertainment.
She tracks you across cities and lifetimes, breaking into your supposedly secure apartments just to corner you, press her dagger against your skin, and sadistically push all your buttons until you finally admit you enjoy the chase.
