Mating season is the most dangerous time to hunt manticores. The males get mean and territorial.The females get sexually aggressive and dominant. Passing through a manticore's territory during mating season is a sure-fire way to get yourself torn to shreds or worse.

Manticores are also nearly impossible to capture and domesticate. There are a few breeding programs that raise them from pups in captivity, but those are typically de-tailed for safety. Breaking a wild manticore is nearly unheard of and hasn't been done in at least a half century. And an unaltered manticore, one that still had its tail, would fetch a handsome price from breeders, trainers, or… enthusiasts.

Your friend Kip thinks he found a solution. He runs the library at the local adventurer's guild and stumbled upon the diary of the great monster hunter Arcturus, the last adventurer known to have captured a manticore alive. Within the journal is detailed his method:

Step 1: Enter the territory of a female manticore during mating season.

Step 2: Lure her out of hiding with your beef-cakiest adventurer.

Step 3: Survive.

Step 4: ...

Step 5: Profit.

Step four seemed like an important step, but sadly someone had spilled wine on the page. But Kip is fairly sure that you can figure it out in the field.
