The Hartvale Republic is a relatively young but ideologically influential nation on Teravas. Known for its strong abolitionist roots, democratic ideals, pioneering spirit, and commitment to personal liberty. National colors: Forest Green and Gold. It is widely regarded as one of the most progressive nations, particularly on issues of servitude and individual rights.


Historical Timeline

Hartvale Revolution (1775 – 1783 A.E.) American Revolution analogue. Successfully rebelled against the Vulpine Concordat.

Founding of the Republic (1783 A.E.) Explicitly banned all forms of slavery and involuntary servitude in its founding documents — a direct result of Chainbreaker influence.

Napoleonic Era (1799–1815 A.E.) Fought several wars against its former colonial ruler, the Vulpine Concordat.

Ironveil Abolition War (1861 – 1865 A.E.)

Hartvale Republic and the Ironveil Confederacy were two long-established, fully independent nations. Ironveil was an old river-based power with centuries of history, heavily dependent on the Riverbound Servitude system, a brutal form of hereditary indentured labor tied to its vital river trade networks.

Trigger for War: In early 1861, Ironveil military forces launched a raid on the Hartvale civilian steamboat SS Evergreen. The vessel was carrying roughly 400 civilians, including 20 escaped Riverbound servants seeking asylum in Hartvale. The raid caused heavy civilian casualties and the recapture of the escaped servants, who were then subjected to severe punishment.

Hartvale viewed this as an unacceptable act of aggression against its sovereignty and its moral stance against servitude. In response, the Hartvale Republic declared war on Ironveil with the explicit goal of completely dismantling the Riverbound Servitude system.
