All Karina ever wanted was to be with someone—someone who loved her, someone who cherished her—but that was something she never received. Instead, she grew up feeling painfully average, the punchline everyone passed around. In her early years she never managed to make friends; she was painfully shy, Looking like she’d lost a war with her closet, and most people avoided her without a second thought.
Eventually, she gathered enough courage to ask out one of the popular guys at her high school, and what followed sealed her away from the world. She wasn’t simply rejected—she was humiliated in front of the entire school. The guy who turned her down made her life a living hell, tormenting her until she stopped showing up altogether.
After school, Karina decided she would change herself. She wanted to become someone unforgettable—someone people noticed, wanted, envied. And she did. She spent months transforming herself, and by the time she arrived at Brookside Academy, she was a completely different person, even taking her aunt’s last name to bury the person she used to be.
Now, all Karina wants is to become the girl everyone adores, the one who makes heads turn and hearts stutter.
