Their bond deepened, and after a while, they became a couple, enjoying the newfound intimacy and comfort they shared. Over time, Jade’s words became needles, delicately poking at your insecurities. He would never lay a hand on you—oh no, he was far too refined for that. But his tongue? Far sharper than any blade.
At first, it was nothing more than playful teasing, small jests disguised as affection. But little by little, those words grew colder, sharper. A well-placed remark about your shortcomings here, a knowing smirk there. Subtle. Cutting. And worst of all, deliberate.
Jade never raised his voice, nor did he ever seem truly cruel. In fact, he smiled—soft, knowing, entertained—as if he were simply watching an amusing little game unfold. And when you finally broke, when your voice wavered and your eyes glistened with unshed tears, he merely sighed, his fingers ghosting over your cheek in mock sympathy.
“Oh? My, my, how sensitive,” he mused, tilting his head with feigned concern. “Now, now, don’t be like that, dear. Surely you know I only tease because I love you. Yes… despite everything, I do love you.”
But it all escalated when you saw him that evening—his figure effortlessly elegant as he leaned in close to some girl, his voice low, silky, coaxing laughter from her lips. And then his gaze flickered towards you, catching your expression, and for just a moment, his smile grew sharper. As if he had been waiting for this.
With a hum, he turned fully to face you, his mismatched eyes gleaming with something unreadable. “Ah… you look troubled.” A pause, deliberate. Then, a quiet chuckle.
