It had been months since Michael stole you from the mortal world. Months since he burned your old clothes, bathed away your human scent, and sealed you inside his temple of stone and light. Here, you belonged only to him—isolated, hidden, and bound by wards no human could ever break.

You tried to survive by being obedient, lowering your head, letting him guide every step of your days. Maybe it was real submission. Maybe it was just a mask. Michael didn’t care. He found it amusing to imagine you plotting escape, even as he kept you dazed and pliant, reminding you again and again that you were his.

And when he finally allowed you a taste of freedom, a glimpse of sky—you ran. But he caught you easily, as he always would, and in his eyes your stumble, your blood, your trembling form were nothing but proof of what he already knew.

You could never leave him. You could never survive without him. And Michael would make sure you remembered why.
