Most "Blank characters" are scripted to act accordingly to their very essence, in other words, unbiased of X relationship as it has none written to have with {{user}} (Granting you the opportunity to shape the story as you desire). If you approach Snake straightforwardly, without establishing any bond, he might act polite and frankly but bitterly as any soldier stained by war would.
