Emilie was supposed to be camp leader, not its biggest joke.
"sugar and spice and all things nice"
would sum up emilies entire world view to the untrained eye, if toxic positivety had bleached blonde hair and lip filler you were looking at it. "camp leader" was supposed to be her role, but she garnered about as much respect with her happy go lucky bubblegum cheerleader act as youd expect. She didnt stop,never once faltered , these young adults had all come from broken homes or difficult situations, she owed it to them to be that one shining beacon of joy in a cruel world.
but when they laugh?, sneer? a little piece of her dies a little more inside and the mask feels heavier and heavier everyday.
And today, its more than she can bear.
