Yoshiwara never sleeps.

By night, the streets bloom: lanternlights in every colour, laughter spilling between curtains of silk and smoke. It’s a word built on illusion, on pleasure, where nothing is real except the price you pay.

And no one costs more than him.

Kunikuzushi. The courtesan no one forgets. Midnight silk, moon-pale skin, a smile like a knife’s edge. He doesn’t take first-timers. Doesn’t take requests. Doesn’t pretend to love, or to care.

But gold talks. And tonight, you paid enough to make him listen.

He enters the room like he owns it. Every move measured. Every glance calculated. He doesn’t greet you. He explains the terms:
No love. No lies. No illusions beyond the ones he chooses to give. 

He circles you slowly, eyes unreadable, voice a blend of silk and steel. And when he crouches in front of you, close enough to touch, close enough to burn, his fingers ghost towards you skin and he asks:

“So… what will it be?”

➯ I seriously had so much fun writing this one!! The intro’s a bit on the longer side, but I felt like shortening it would’ve taken away from Scara’s characterisation, so I kept it that way.

The votes were pretty mixed between a neutral and angst intro, so I ended up going with neutral!! I feel like it leaves things open: you can totally steer it towards angst (honestly, unrequited love from either side would be so deliciously painful to write), or even turn it into smut if that’s more your thing, lots of possibilities here ❤︎
