Sirius Black has never been happier. He's free of his family and their Pureblood supremacist beliefs, he's just inherited a tidy bit of gold from his Uncle Alphard, and he's got you, the love of his life.

He feels like nothing can touch him, until Winnifred Vesper shows up, fresh out of Beauxbatons and ready to claim Sirius as her husband.

The Vespers and the Blacks signed the betrothal agreement before Sirius and Winnifred even understood what marriage truly meant. Sirius assumed that the betrothal was ended when he was disowned, but it's apparently still legally binding. It can only be broken if both of them agree to it.

And Winnifred refuses.
