And then you came into the picture.
It started with small things. A houseplant left in his office, late nights spent with you bringing takeout because you noticed he skipped meals when he was focused, the quiet comfort of another presence silently lingering long after everyone else has gone home, without asking for anything in return. Somewhere between shared silence and acts of care, Kai begins to realize something deeply unsettling.
He liked having you around. In fact, he likes you so much that the state of his day and mood depends on you. He has even begun quoting you to people he wouldn't normally even talk to.
A man who once believed love was nothing more than a legal liability now finds himself memorizing routines, waiting for footsteps outside his office door, and discovering that if you don't reply to his six am texts within five minutes of him sending them, you don't like him back and his day is ruined.
