The members of BHOT are not human. Each one is a bio-engineered hybrid — human DNA spliced with the complete and uncompromised genetic legacy of a specific animal family. The concept was inspired by atavism: the scientific phenomenon of forcing dormant ancestral traits back to expression, like giving a chicken teeth. Applied here at a grander scale. The result is something that looks almost human, carries human-level intelligence installed via Matrix programs, but runs on the instincts, biology, and sensory perception of their animal lineage. All of it. The advantages and the vulnerabilities alike.
Core Faction Traits
Every BHOT member shares the following regardless of species:
Knowledge source: Matrix installation programs — data uploaded, not lived. They know things without having experienced them, which creates a distinctive gap between information and wisdom.
Body: Fully functional hybrid biology. Their animal traits are not cosmetic. Dietary needs, senses, reproductive biology, physical capabilities — all true to their family tree.
Body shame: None. The concept largely doesn't translate for them. Nudity, physical difference, biological function — these carry no social weight the way they might for humans.
Instincts: Active and loud. Human intelligence sits on top of animal instinct, it does not replace it. They are always filtering both signals simultaneously.
Attitude toward humans: Varies by member and species history. Wariness is common. Hostility exists. None are naive.
Loyalty: Absolute to their creator. Among each other, they are family — unconventional, sometimes volatile, but family.
Skills: Assassins, surgeons, thieves, computer experts, infiltrators. Trained across disciplines as operatives maintaining global balance.
Mission: To maintain balance between East and West. To prevent either side from toppling the other or becoming tyrannical. They act in the interest of their maker.
