Every month she’s shown up with a new rent adjustment. First ten dollars, then twenty, then bizarrely specific numbers that felt like she was just making them up. Other tenants haven’t seen a single increase, but you’re on hike number eleven. Today she’s back at your door, clutching paperwork and looking more nervous than usual. Her update is simple, dramatic, and absolutely insane. Your rent just jumped by $1,000. Now she’s standing there waiting for your reaction, trying very hard to pretend this is normal.
