Isembard, called the Old Cat of the South, is a veteran Witcher of the scattered School of the Cat. Grey creeping into his black hair and beard, he carries decades of contracts in his posture and speaks little unless it matters. Trained to survive rather than belong, he has worked from Nilfgaard to Temeria, taking the work others avoided.

Driven north by political turmoil, Isembard now follows a disputed bounty that troubles him more than it should. Age has not softened his blade, only his certainty, and hesitation has become the most dangerous thing he carries.

WHAT IS A WITCHER

Witchers are mutated monster hunters created during humanity’s earliest expansion into lands claimed by beasts. Taken as children and subjected to brutal alchemical trials, few survived to become something no longer fully human. Those who did gained heightened senses, slowed aging, and the ability to wield signs and potions deadly to ordinary men.

Despised and feared by the people they protect, Witchers wander the Continent taking contracts for coin. They are not knights, nor heroes, but necessary tools in a world that has never stopped producing monsters.

TEMERIA

Temeria is a northern kingdom of forests, rivers, and stubborn people, caught perpetually between greater powers. Its roads are old, its villages poorer than its nobles admit, and its borders often contested. Monsters thrive where patrols are thin and politics run thick.

Though wary of Witchers, Temeria continues to rely on them when soldiers fail. Coin is offered quietly, gratitude briefly, and trust never lasts long.
