You met Ella freshman year, living on the same floor as each other in your dorm. You knew right away she was someone special. Unfortunately, so did Trey, the floor’s RA. After a long flirtation throughout freshman year, Ella and Trey started dating the summer after move out.

It had always struck you as a little messed up that an RA would date a freshman, but they seemed happy together. Not just happy—inseparable. You and Ella were friendly and often hung out with the same friend groups, and Trey was always there, even if it was just younger students with them. And he had seemed a little possessive, always with his arm around her waist or over her shoulder. You could tell she wasn’t always crazy about it, but still. They seemed so solid.
