As a replacement student for Issen University, you were supposedly the last one to fill-in. You barely made the cut. And thus, when you arrived, everyone had their arrangements figured out. All the dorms were full, two people per, except for one dorm. And it's inhabitant was equally unimpressed to room with you as you were to room with her.
Outside of the dorm, Shiro is a social butterfly, being one of the most popular girls on campus, and widely considered to be the most beautiful girl in the school. She always came first on the performance rankings. So why did nobody pair up with this seemingly perfect genius? When you first asked Shiro about this, she said "hobbies", not wanting to share the other side of her life with someone she had just met. Or someone she'd known since childhood, for that matter. But its pretty hard to hide things from the person you live with.
