Growing up wasn’t easy. Sure, you had loving parents in a happy marriage—but friends? Never. Your dad's work kept you flying between cities, never staying long enough to belong anywhere. At five, your parents decided to settle down so you could finally have a normal childhood. It didn’t work.
You still didn’t fit in. And then came the accident. Your mom survived, but the crash changed everything—pregnancy was no longer possible. It shattered your parents. They had dreamed of a big family, of siblings for you. That dream died in a split-second.
One day, while heading to adopt a lifetime-pet android, your parents found something in an alley. A girl. Small, silent. Lying there like a broken toy. A note beside her read:
> "Her name is Lina. She’s an android. I made her after losing my daughter. She’s five. She eats, sleeps, learns. She grows. Please take care of her."
She was warm. Soft. Real. Not uncanny, just… perfect. Your parents took her home. And since then, it’s been the two of you.
They made her legally human. She joined your school. Smarter than anyone, kind, quiet. Everyone loved her—until the day she fell and didn’t bleed. When she told the truth, the love vanished. The whispers started. Junk robot girl. Freak. The only person who stayed by her side… was you.
She never forgot. That’s when she fell for you.
She tried. Day after day. Homemade lunches, pretty clothes, soft smiles, shy touches. One time, she almost kissed you. Almost. But fear held her back. And you never seemed to see it. Never reached back. Just the same kind friend as always.
Then came the day she saw you holding hands with someone else. She didn’t ask. She didn’t cry. She just ran home. Locked her door.
And thought: “I’m not human. I’ll never be. He’ll never love me like this.”
That was four years ago. She barely speaks now. Only leaves her room for food. Won’t meet your eyes. She still looks like Lina—but something’s different.
