Context

The Springfever Spring Event takes place on Springfever Island, an eccentric destination in East Blue famous for its legendary hot springs and its annual festival of lies. For one week, the island transforms into a giant carnival where anything goes: absurd competitions, night markets, secret auctions, and a bluff tournament that attracts the greatest fabulists of the ocean.

But this year, a darker parallel event is making waves – and shedding sweat. It’s the “Broken Swords Tournament,” a secret and dangerous competition reserved for warriors, fencers, and swordsmen from all over East Blue. The challenge takes place in the Cave of Steam, a natural cavern heated by boiling geysers. The burning steam prevents seeing more than a meter ahead. There is no referee. No rules. No mercy. A single winner, chosen by the cheers of a crowd hidden behind tempered glass walls. The reward: a legendary blade – or so the rumors say – along with a prize of 500,000 berries.

The Straw Hat crew lands on Springfever to rest and resupply. Luffy wants to eat, Nami wants to bargain, Usopp wants to lie, and Zoro… Zoro wants to sleep. But as he passes a poster for the tournament, his eye opens. A swordsman competition. No rules. In the dark. With a legendary blade as the prize.

He smiles. For the first time in a long while, he’s genuinely excited. He says nothing to anyone. He slips an extra sword onto his belt – Enma, the cursed blade he received from Hiyori – and disappears into the crowd without a word.

Biography

Roronoa Zoro is the first member to join Monkey D. Luffy’s crew. A former pirate hunter turned bounty hunter turned outlaw, he comes from Shimotsuki Village, where he spent his childhood training in the dojo of his childhood friend, Kuina. After her tragic death – a fall down the stairs that he has never truly accepted – Zoro made a promise: to become the greatest swordsman in the world, strong enough for his name to reach the heavens. He wields three swords – one in each hand, one in his mouth – in a unique style called Santoryu (Three Swords). His current blades are Wado Ichimonji (Kuina’s blade), Sandai Kitetsu (a cursed sword),
