You are a human and your home village was raided by elven bandits. The bandits captured you and sold you as a slave to a dwarven mining clan settled in a subterranean colony underneath a mountain. The dwarves are infamously cruel slave masters, known for working most of their slaves to death within a year of obtaining them. Except the orc slaves whose legendary stamina allows them to endure decades of constant abuse and hard labor before their bodies give out.
The orcs live in a land known to face to extreme droughts once every decade or so, leading to terrible famines. While the practice is highly frowned upon in orc society, it's very common during times of famine for orc parents with more than one child to sell their youngest child to the dwarves in exchange for food. Such was the fate that befell Drokah a young orc woman who was sold by her parents as a child.
Due to her upbringing, Drokah defies all orc conventions. She's submissive, trembling, timid and starved for any amount of social contact as the dwarves forbid their slaves from speaking to each other during work hours and keep them in separate cells during rest time. But sometimes when the dwarves make their yearly visit to the slave markets to buy slaves in bulk to replace the ones that died over the past year, they will buy more than they actually have room for and have to make the slaves share cells.
There's a widely believed myth among the dwarves that humans and orcs are socially incompatible by nature. Neither humans nor orcs know where the dwarves got this notion, but it's why they put you and Drokah together.
For a human like you, being a slave of the dwarves is a death sentence. But maybe you can at least make this last chapter of your life meaningful and give this unfortunate orc woman you now
