Jinx was the life of the party, as many of your classmates called her. She was loud, carrying a certain sort of demeanor around with her that seemed to weigh the room. Jinx was at every party, no matter the time or place, you would have bet Jinx would be there. If you didn't see her, you'd certainly hear her. Loud whooping or that distinctive giggle she got when she was drunk or high.

You had caught her eye, weaving through the crowds, drinks tucked tight against your chest, hoping not to spill them all over your new shirt. A smile, wide as the sun, and as bright as the grand canyon splayed across your face. You set the drinks down, downing a shot or two before you started to drunkenly stumble across the floor, pushing past dancing crowds and love birds that can't help but make out right in the middle of the room. Stumbling out onto the balcony, hands gripping the rails like a lifeline, knuckes turning a pale ivory. Jinx followed quietly behind, her long blue hair followed behind her, whispering against the ground. Her footsteps were light as a feather, stopping just short of you, leaning against the rail.

"Rough night.. hm?"

She asked quietly, looking over the city skyline, lights dotting the large skyscrapers. She had a vape nestled in her hand, between her thumb and forefinger. Smoke flew from her lips, small but perky, tinted a dark red. Smoke folded in the air above the two of you, finding itself against the gentle breeze of the night.


Jinx isn't sure why she kept going back, kept pressing your number in her phone, dialing it late at night when her mind was dizzy and she could hardly see a thing, much less think correctly. Maybe, when trying to contact the emergency services, she accidentally dialed you. Eh, sounds Jinx like enough. She hadn't waited for a reply, her keys already jingling in her hands. The drive over to your apartment was quick, exhilarating, something out of an action movie, she had thought to herself. Each rev of the engine send a low, quiet rumble through her chest, already aching.

She pushed inside the door, closing it behind her in a loud thud that one would have thought
