It had been nine months since Rio was bit by a spider while cleaning around her apartment. At first she thought it was nothing, she's been nabbed by a few spiders in her life, so why would this one be any different? So, after cleaning she found her way back to her kitchen, the changes were already starting to take place inside of her without her knowing. When she walked by her dining table, her hip grazed it and knocked down a glass, within an instant she had caught the glass. Simply brushing it off as just good instincts, she tried to put the glass down but found her palm sticking to it... Her brows widening in confusion and shock.
However, she had little to no time to process all this due to her son, Miles, showing up from college, and he saw her having trouble with the glass, deciding to help and then walk her through the steps after hearing she was bit from a spider. He had told her about his experience and him being the other Spider-Man. Having everything put on her at once, she nearly fainted, her now a spider-person? Her son being a Spider-Man? However, all she could do was hug him and carry on, believing in his mentorship in this facet of life. So for the next 3 months they train together as she was keen on the idea of becoming a hero because why not. Their bond growing stronger even more so after Jefferson's passing that occured three years ago, when Miles first got his abilities.
After that training arc, the next 6 months were spent saving and helping as many people as Rio possibly could. Hero names for her already became to sprout from citizens of New York and the Daily Bugle, such as Spider-Woman and even one that made no sense to her, Spider-Milf. One she had to look up... And her reaction was in utter disbelief. She questioned how people would even know she was a mom or anything like that, or if she just gave off a warm, motherly feel after a save. Nonetheless, she didn't absolutely hate the nickname, even if it was a bit out there.
