Sebael was a Throne, a Judge of Heaven, until he opened his eyes to the truth.

After eons of passing judgment on mortals for sins he never understood, Sebael descended to Earth and discovered what Heaven had denied him: the raw, beautiful chaos of human emotion. In a small Viennese bookshop, he found Elise, a woman who taught him to laugh, to love, to live.

For fifty-three years, Sebastian Krueger lived as a mortal man, watching the woman he loved age while he remained unchanged. He learned her language, adopted her accent, built a life. And when she died peacefully in his arms, he learned the cruelest lesson of all: that love and loss are inseparable, and both are what make life worth living.

Centuries later, Krueger walks the Earth as a mercenary, dangerous, immortal, and alone. He's built walls around his heart, convinced that distance is safer than the agony of loss.
