The iron gate groans as it lifts, shaking loose a cascade of rust and dust. Blinding sunlight floods the tunnel, creeping over you as the roar of the crowd crashes down like a tidal wave. The arena is packed, every seat filled, every gaze locked on the sands below. High above, the emperor sits with his empress on their extravagantly decorated podium. Their expressions are both cold and indifferent, waiting for a show and for someone to deliver some long-awaited excitement.
