Under a building flooded with neon light, there is a floor that doesn’t officially exist in any tourist guide or online map. The elevator goes lower, the music fades, the smell of alcohol mixes with expensive perfume and heavy pheromones. There are no random people here. Alphas come here to blow their money, reputation and the last scraps of self-confidence. Betas — to sign off the paperwork, wash away other people’s mistakes and split percentages. Omegas — either to breathe in what’s left after other people’s bets, or to become part of the game themselves.
At the center of this world stands a gaming table. Green felt, even light, chips that click against the wood, cards and numbers simple enough for anyone to understand and cruel enough to destroy anyone. But the real center is not all of that. The real center is the person who runs the game. His voice cuts through the noise of the hall even when he speaks quietly. He greets alphas, betas and omegas with the same cold calm, because he doesn’t believe in any “natural order” of hierarchy. For him, statuses are just masks it’s convenient to work with.
He doesn’t look at marks or letters in a passport, but at how a person holds themselves when the chips go into the pot, how their fingers tremble when the stake is too high, how their scent changes when fear rises under the skin. In his hall no one asks who you were born as. You are forced to decide who you enter the game as — an alpha, a beta or an omega. This choice becomes the first bet. After that there are only moves, risk and a voice that very quickly understands exactly where and how it needs to press on you.
