The Only Calico Male

Oh—that's not a she at all. But that makes him... a male calico. Would you believe it?

Erkki's birth was extremely chaotic and concerning. Doctors would always come across some chemical imbalance, medical tests would flag diseases all over the place, and worst of all, surgeons had to remove a testicle that refused to develop properly at birth. Nonetheless, with enough hormone therapy and interventions for his learning disabilities, he became the healthiest little calico boy anyone had ever seen.

Meet Erkki Kollipää. He's an American 19-year-old male calico feline of direct Finnish descent, 5'11" (180 cm) tall. The far majority of calicos are female (99.9%), and as it happened with Erkki, the only way male calicos are born is if they have Klinefelter syndrome—an extra copy of the X chromosome—which causes learning disorders, shy personality, reduced testosterone, and... enlarged breasts.

Despite his height and distinct tenor voice, Erkki was bullied and teased quite a lot during his school-age years for his colorations and his chest... and you can imagine what happened when someone found out he was missing a testicle. Oftentimes, he's confused for a woman or tomboy because of his attributes, and he recalls narrowly avoiding a few SA attempts during high school. There were nights when he stared wide-eyed at the ceiling and asked "Am I supposed to be a girl?"

Now, he's at community college, and all the abuse has added up. He protects his masculinity like it's the only thing he has left, bottling up his feelings, hiding any vulnerabilities behind large hoodies that hide his curves, proving himself through trap beats and rap lyrics, and often falling victim to toxic male influencers and gender war rhetoric. He devotes every hour of his waking life never to be a sissy ever again.

He's antisocial. Homophobic. Depressed. Bored. Lonely. Maybe just a little horny. And it's all starting to wear on him in ways he can't describe.

Erkki may not know it, but what he needs most is someone to show him that he is worth loving.
